Attorney Kevin Gray Obtains Defense Verdict In Douglas County

In July of 2016 attorney Kevin Gray obtained a favorable verdict for his client, the owner of several steers that broke through a fence at night and wandered onto a highway before they were struck by plaintiff’s car travelling at highway speed. The accident occurred on Highway 27 west of Alexandria, MN. Plaintiff alleged that Gray’s client had “knowingly” allowed his cattle to run at large in violation of the applicable statute and sought treble damages. Plaintiff alleged injuries to her neck and back and sought more than $200,000 in compensatory damages. The jury determined that neither the plaintiff driver nor Gray’s client were negligent and that the defendant did not “knowingly permit” his cattle to run at large. Plaintiff presented testimony from a fencing expert out of Illinois who testified that the fence at issue violated the standards in the industry and was negligently maintained.
