With six years on the Rajkowski Hansmeier team of attorneys, Troy has proven worthy of the title ‘Rising Star’ bestowed by Minnesota Law & Politics 5 of the last 6 years. Troy was also voted Best Oral Advocate and Moot Court Chief Justice in his law school class. These accomplishments and recognitions are all evident in Troy’s work on a daily basis, serving as a dedicated and hard-working advocate for each of his clients.
Troy finished his undergraduate work at Bemidji State University before heading south to the University of Memphis for his J.D. Troy clerked for and eventually joined a Memphis law firm where he practiced for two years. After Troy and his wife, Nicole’s first child was born, they decided to return to their Minnesota roots and Troy joined the RHL team in 2003.
Of note, Troy served as class counsel for a group of 6,000 employees in a wage and hour class action suit that settled for over $2,000,000 in December 2008. He also represented 30 processing line employees in a discrimination case which settled in 2006 for an undisclosed amount. Troy recently represented 13 truck drivers in an unpaid overtime case and he is class counsel in a tip sharing case against a large Minnesota coffee retailer. In addition to representing groups, Troy enjoys helping individual workers in various employment disputes, including those involving unpaid overtime, unpaid straight time for hours worked, exempt/non-exempt misclassifications and discrimination.
In addition to his work in employment law, Troy has an active insurance defense practice and was recently elected to the board of directors of the Minnesota Defense Lawyers Association. He has successfully tried numerous cases to juries and Courts, defending motorists and homeowners as well as their insurers.
Troy is an active member of the Minnesota and Wisconsin State Bar Associations. His experience practicing law in state and federal court is a valuable asset to Rajkowski Hansmeier and his clients. His primary concentration is in general litigation with a focus on employment and insurance law.
When not at the office, Troy enjoys spending time with his wife and three children.
