Ms. Fossey has practiced law since 2003 primarily in central Minnesota and is committed to the area.  In 2003 she graduated with honors from the University of Minnesota Law School.  She completed  a judicial clerkship in the Ninth Judicial District and a judicial externship at the Minnesota Court of Appeals.  As a student, she worked in the civil division of the Ramsey County Attorney’s Office, in the healthcare/tax department at Dorsey & Whitney LLP, and at the University of Minnesota Federal Income Taxation Clinic.  Ms. Fossey participated in and taught moot court and legal writing at the University of Minnesota Law School as well.  Prior to law school, Kate worked for CCH-Legal Information Services in the area of corporate law, and went on to work as a paralegal at Dorsey & Whitney LLP in the healthcare/tax and corporate groups before attending law school.

Today, Ms. Fossey’s practice focuses on litigation.  Ms. Fossey brings well-rounded experience in her litigation practice, as she has experience in multiple areas of law.  She has a genuine love for the variety her litigation practice brings and is committed to creating solutions for the businesses and individuals that she works with.  Ms. Fossey can bring unique insight into settlement matters given her varied experience. She is a qualified Rule 114 ADR Neutral and serves as a mediator in private practice and at the Conflict Resolution Center in St. Cloud.

With the strong mentorship and wealth of experience of Rajkowski Hansmeier backing her, Ms. Fossey has utilized the depth of resources to successfully represent a wide range of clients including homeowners, individuals and business owners. She has represented homeowners in water contamination cases; insureds in litigation with insurance agents that fail to procure insurance; farmers in land disputes involving equitable mortgages; nurses, veterinarians, boiler operators, day care operators, and residential treatment centers in alleged DHS licensing violations before the Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH); group foster homes, nursing homes, excavation companies, and marinas in wrongful death actions; storage unit companies, bowling alleys, restaurants, and assisted living facilities in slip and fall cases; both homeowners and realtors in fraud/misrepresentation cases alleged in property sales; and trustees, personal representatives, attorneys-in-fact, and beneficiaries in probate, trust, and fiduciary litigation.

Ms. Fossey sits on the Board of Directors of Reach Up/Head Start, serves as a volunteer mediator at the Conflict Resolution Center at St. Cloud State University, assists with the Volunteer Lawyer's Network, drafts wills for first responders through the Wills for Heroes project, and volunteers as the V.A. VetLaw Program.
